Join the Movement: United Tenants of Los Angeles Thousands of tenants across Los Angeles are organized through tenant associations in our buildings, Union Council, and neighborhood-based local chapters. Since 2023, we’ve stood together against harassment, fought for long-overdue repairs, stopped evictions, staged protests, and successfully led rent strikes citywide. Get Involved Join us at a local chapter meeting or attend one of our events to connect with fellow tenants and be part of our fight for housing justice! We Are Member-Funded and Member-Led Our work is powered by our members—we have no paid staff. Membership dues cover essential costs, including meeting space rentals, event hosting, and supplies like interpretation equipment. Below, you’ll find membership packages designed to fit various budgets. We suggest $50 per year, but any contribution—big or small—makes a difference. Prefer to Make a One-Time Donation? You can also support us with a one-time donation or an annual contribution. For more information or to donate, give us a call. Together, we can build a stronger, fairer Los Angeles! We provide all Tenants with the tools needed to deal with issues that may arise with their Landlords or Management Companies. Many Tenants are afraid to complain to these entities for fear of being evicted or having their rent raised for no reason. We provide the proper forms and format in which to address all issues with regard to habitability, neighborhood nuisances, along with all aspects of your rental agreement educating you on what each clause means and how it affects your tenancy. Our office will follow through with you from start to finish to make sure each issue is resolved and if needed, a referral can be made for Free Legal Advice with a local Attorney. This service is offered and included with your yearly Membership that is only $25.00 per year paid via a bank account, debit card or credit card. And with every new membership, you will receive a FREE APARTMENT INSPECTION from an Experienced Property Manager who will document all your issues and address them anonymously with your Landlord or Management Company. And in severe violations, we will even contact local Housing Authorities to address the issues that they can force the Landlord or Management Company to re pair. • The Tenants Association | AHF Skid Row Tenants

Welcome To The Association In each SRO or hotel within our association, a council structure is established to ensure comprehensive representation and governance. This structure includes essential roles such as one President (also known as Caption), who also serves on the Association's board, one Vice President, a Secretary, a Treasurer, one Union Steward, and between one to six Floor Leaders. Each floor within the establishment appoints its own Floor Leader, collectively forming the council responsible for overseeing affairs within their respective hotel or SRO. This organized approach facilitates effective leadership and management across all properties affiliated with our association. As an association, we are committed to supporting our council members in several ways: Advocacy and Representation : We engage in advocacy on behalf of our council members at local government meetings, community forums, and with various stakeholders, including AHF Foundation and Health Housing Foundation Tenants. We aim to ensure that the voices of Skid Row and health housing tenants are effectively heard and respected in decisions impacting their living conditions. Legal Support and Resources: We provide council members with access to legal resources and support to navigate challenges such as eviction threats, landlord disputes, and living conditions issues. This includes facilitating connections with pro bono legal services as necessary. Community Building: We foster a strong sense of community among council members and their neighbors through regular meetings, events, and workshops. These initiatives promote networking, mutual support, and solidarity among tenants in Skid Row. Education and Empowerment : We educate council members about their tenant rights and empower them with knowledge about housing laws, tenant protections, and available resources. This empowerment enables informed decision-making and proactive steps toward improving their living conditions. Collaboration and Outreach : We collaborate closely with community organizations, service providers, and advocacy groups to strengthen collective efforts aimed at enhancing housing conditions and addressing homelessness in Skid Row. Our outreach initiatives aim to expand our influence and impact within the community. As the AHF Skid Row Tenants Association, we are committed to cultivating a supportive environment where council members can effectively represent their communities and contribute to positive changes in housing policies and conditions.
